Ghastly Experience

Daymare!

I can't believe my grandparents proposed something as horrific and ghastly as going to Jalan TAR, just to watch Malaysian citizen go crazy shopping for Eid-ul Fitri! AND, they eagerly suggested to take LRT, instead of driving, because they're afraid we'll be trapped in the traffic and won't be able to reach home before berbuka.

😰

Don't get me wrong, I don't really mind going to Jalan TAR at all, but the idea of getting pushed, stared at and collided with swarm of strangers with questionable level of hygiene, doesn't sound very appealing to me.

With that being said, I stand my point that I don't mind going to Jalan TAR, but not when it's almost Raya. It's a nightmare. 😱

After countless argument of yes-we're-going and no-we're not, finally my auntie, Achik and I gave in. Trying to reason with a former headmistress and a former businessman, is never a good try people. You'll definitely lose your case. 😒

My Nanna obviously LOVED this 'small trip' idea as she kept on smiling ear-to-ear and waving contentedly to the camera. Grandpa told me how he and nanna used to escape the city by boarding the midnight train to Singapore for a short romantic getaway when they were young. Aaaww. Romantic souls these two are. 💕

Bandaraya Station. Swarm of people.

And so the nightmare begins. 😰 It was crowded. And the smell that came from some of the people  that bump into me, were quite unpleasant. The hot weather was a no help either. I instantly regretted agreeing to nanna and granpa's crazy idea. Seriously.

Traffic was congested and it was only quarter past 1 in the afternoon. Looking at this mass of congestion, I am glad that we did not drive to the city centre, otherwise, we would have been stuck in the traffic like those people. Hehe.

After five hours of torture, finally, we headed home. With empty hands. 😆

We did not buy anything because (1) we went there to experience the chaos as the city dwellers go banana shopping on the verge of Raya, and (2) we prefer to shop at boutiques, as it is comfier and has less crowd. Besides, we were constantly pushed aside by some strangers, how were we supposed to have a look at the pretty clothes and fancy looking scarfs in peace. Lol.

Verdict?
  1. Never ever do as much as think to go shopping at Jalan TAR during this time of the year.
  2. If pushing your way in and having a tug war over a dress or a scarf, are your forte, you will definitely survive this crowd.

As for me, I rather stick to our normal shopping places. I do not deal with crowd too well. I get agitated easily. Haha. Now please excuse me, while I nurse my bruised feet from all those walking and throw a fit from hunger and exhaustion. 😂

Happy break fasting to all Muslims in the world. Have a blast one and may He accepts our good deed today in this Holy month of Ramadhan. Ameen.

Natasha
